Ningaloo Caravan & Holiday Resort, Exmouth: how to book a powered or unpowered site, when availability is tight, and how the 28-day cancellation policy works.
About Ningaloo Caravan & Holiday Resort
Ningaloo Caravan & Holiday Resort is a big, family-friendly holiday park in Exmouth, on the main road into town at 1112 Murat Road, opposite the Ningaloo Visitor Centre. It's an easy walk to the supermarket, pharmacy, cafes and hospital, and it makes a comfortable base for day trips to Cape Range National Park, the Ningaloo Reef and Vlamingh Head. The resort says Exmouth Town Beach is about 1km away.
The park covers 23 acres of palms, bougainvillea and frangipani. The headline feature is a 25-metre tropical pool with Bali huts, plus an Italian restaurant and deli on site. It's privately run, so bookings and cancellations follow the resort's own terms, not the DBCA rules that apply in the national parks nearby.
The campsites
The resort has 250 powered caravan and camping sites and 40 unpowered sites, alongside chalets, park homes, villas and budget rooms.
What you get as a camper:
- Drinking water taps on sites, plus at the camp kitchen and ablution blocks. It's town scheme water, so you can fill up.
- A camp kitchen and BBQ area (open 6am to 9pm), laundries, amenity blocks and a toilet dump point.
- The pool, kids' play equipment and free Wi-Fi hotspots, which the resort warns can be patchy at busy times.
- Dogs are welcome on caravan and camping sites, on a lead and never left alone, but not in the pool area, kitchens, amenities or accommodation. Dog-friendly sites are limited, so pick the right site type when you book.
- One vehicle per site, tow ball facing the road, and quiet time after 10pm.
- No fish cleaning in the park; use the facilities at the marina and boat ramps.
Site check-in is from 11am and check-out is 10am. The resort may move you to a different site number before or on arrival.
Some facilities are run independently and may not open in the low season, 1 November to 31 March.
How booking works
You can book online through the resort's NewBook booking page, or phone reception on 08 9949 2377. The resort doesn't publish a fixed release date or booking window on its website, so check the online calendar or ask reception how far ahead your dates are open.
Payment terms:
- A 50% deposit confirms the booking, with the balance due 28 days before arrival.
- One-night stays, and bookings made within 28 days of arrival, are paid in full upfront.
- Visa, Mastercard and EFTPOS are accepted, and a processing fee is added to card payments. Amex and Diners have to be processed by phone.
- You can change dates or details once at no charge if you do it at least 28 days before arrival.
When it sells out
With almost 300 sites it's a big park, but Exmouth's peak season still squeezes it. The whale shark season, which the resort puts at mid-March to August, and the cooler winter months pull in the caravan crowd, and WA school holidays in that stretch are the hardest dates to get. Summer is quieter, partly because it's hot: the resort quotes average December to February maximums of 37°C.
How to get a cancellation
The resort's cancellation policy is simple:
- Cancel 28 days or more before arrival: full refund less one night's rate.
- Cancel less than 28 days before arrival: no refund.
- No refunds for no-shows, late arrivals, early departures or weather.
So the 28-day line is when people make their final call, and it's also when balances fall due. Expect cancelled sites to show up around four weeks before arrival, with the odd one later when plans fall over entirely. Watch Ningaloo Caravan & Holiday Resort on Aussie Camp Alerts to get an alert when a site opens up for your dates.
The resort recommends travel insurance, noting that cyclones and flooding can close roads into Exmouth.
Getting there
Exmouth is about 1,270km north of Perth, a 12 to 13 hour drive that most people break up along the Coral Coast. Flying is quicker: it's roughly two hours from Perth to Learmonth Airport, which is 37km from town, and a shuttle runs if you book ahead.
Nearby alternatives
If you'd rather camp in the national park, Cape Range has beachfront campgrounds through Park Stay WA, including Osprey Bay, Mesa and Kurrajong. They release in monthly blocks and sell fast. Down the coast, Peoples Park in Coral Bay is the other big commercial option on the reef.
